A Closer Look at Brochure Folding Options
July 31, 2009
Here at Digital Room, we won’t leave you to fold your bulk brochure orders yourself. We also offer three folding options right on our Brochures product page. At this point you’re probably wondering how you will choose the best folds for your prints. We’ll answer your questions about our three classic brochure folds in detail below.
Up Close and Personal with Brochure Folds
Tri-Fold / Letterfold
The letterfold or tri-fold brochure is the most commonly used fold today. This is because envelope inserter machines have the least trouble dealing with this kind of fold in automated runs. It folds the same way as you would fold a letter to insert in a mailing envelope, hence the name. This fold works great when you’re sending your brochures out through the mail.
Z-Fold
When you stand a z-fold brochure upright and look at it from above, its pages will form a Z. Brochure prints with the same kind of fold but with added pages is called an accordion fold. Though they have a tendency to spring open, following a z-fold brochure’s page sequence is easy because the pages nest together and open in sequence.
Half-Fold
The half-fold brochure opens like a greeting card. You get a front cover, two inside pages, and a back cover; it’s a very straightforward design. Try this fold on for size if you’re presenting minimal information but don’t want your brochures to look like it lacks in content.
Printing brochures on sturdy card stock? We also offer scoring options so your print designs will stay intact. That means we’ll place creases where your brochure folds are, and the prints’ surfaces won’t crack with frequent folding.
