How to use Vector Graphics for Poster Layouts

February 16, 2010

Printing , Smart Design

Vector graphics can be simple little additions that will make your poster stand out.  These graphics are easy to resize and make for excellent design accents for any poster.  Vector graphics are usually free, and they are all over the net.  A simple Google search can really help you make your poster layouts more modern.

Swirls are cool circular effects. They come in a variety of choices, like fractals and circles.  For an easy background accent, use these vector graphics to make your background pop.  Many poster layouts will include just a simple gradient with swirls applied over the background.  Place your fonts over the vector graphic for a neat effect that really makes the message stand out.  Remember, the attitude of the poster is communicated through the shapes and colors that you use.

Get the size right, and you will know what to do with your space.  Remember that Vector graphics (in their truest form) are a set of mathematical points.  This means that resizing is not only a breeze, but results in minimal pixilation.  You can also make your own vector graphics, so be sure to search for tutorials on how the process is done.

Request a proof before you print.  Since many vector graphics, and poster designs, use gradients and other color effects, requesting a proof is the most reliable way to insure the accuracy of your print.  If you can, order in bulk.  Oversized and bulk orders are usually fulfilled with Offset printing, thus cutting costs.

You can save yourself lots of time and energy by using vector graphics.  Vector graphics can be resized to almost any universal size, they are easy to make, and they are very stylish.  For the modern feel, use vector graphics in your poster layout.
