On Your Way to Higher Sales with Traveling Ads
December 17, 2008
How’d you like to get hold of ad materials that journey with people in their daily commute?
Transit ads are an excellent and relatively novel tool for marketing. They offer non-stop advertising from one area to various destinations, giving you good exposure throughout the day to a good volume of prospective customers.
One for all
There are plenty of obvious benefits that come with this medium. It’s a certified attention grabber, especially if your ad is huge and colorful. It’s a sure standout during traffic jams. Your ad is seen by a certain population of people, depending on the specific type of transit ad you choose, the vehicle you pick and the route it takes regularly.
You may opt for transit ads placed on the sides of the bus, like king, queen and tail ads. There are also the smaller and internally-displayed ads called interior transit ads. The latter is cheaper but the former gets more exposure. You can place your ads on buses, trains and other transportation rides that offer ad spaces.
You pay for an ad (plus the space) and you get that much publicity. If you divide the total price per number of viewer, you’ll see that you spend just a fraction for each person. Quite a good deal, more so if your cost of printing is inexpensive. Since you only need one to a few pieces of ads, you can have them produced through digital printing. That way, you get charged low for each short run piece.
Buts and ifs
However, transit ads do have its limitations. For one, you have to be specific with your target audience. For instance, if your products and services cater to students, you need to make sure that the vehicle passes by school areas and/or has students as majority of passengers. If not, you may be seen by many but not by the ones that need to see your ads. It’s futile.
Another thing is that its frequency of exposure may make your ad seemingly invisible to a regular commuter, particularly if that fellow boards or chances upon the same transportation means. To counter this, your ad must not blend in its immediate surrounding. Choose a design that is eye-catching, humorous or thought-provoking so people will not tire of looking at it.
With its high visibility feature, using transit ad is like hitting a flock of birds with one stone.
