First impressions last, even with food. One quick look at the menu and you can either make the customer eager to order or raring to get out of your restaurant. Sure, it takes good food and good presentation but before you can prove your resto’s ability to satisfy the palate, your customer has to take a bite of your culinary creations first.

To achieve this desired reaction, you need a menu that would give justice to your dishes. You see, here, it’s not just a matter of culinary expertise. It’s a matter of photography. It’s a matter of layout. It’s a matter of printing.

For such projects, your photographer has to work closely with a food stylist. There are certain features in a dish that a camera can’t bring out without garnishing and proper styling techniques such as adding gloss to food without making it look oily, or setting up a nicely scooped ice cream for the camera to capture.

While it takes a team to bring mouthwatering dishes into life in photos, it takes another professional to make sure that each of these pictures plus the texts are properly laid down into an arrangement where all these elements blend to create one portfolio of different flavors.

Now that you have your menu design, it’s all set for digital printing. If your design entails several panels, there are three common folding options to choose from: half fold, tri fold and z fold, much like the ones you see in brochures. This is facilitated by scoring to give your menus clean and straight fold lines.

Another unique feature that you can manipulate is the lamination. Laminating is the process of coating the surface of the stock. This makes the your menu resistant to liquid spills, a common accident in food joints.
